Once a neglected land strewn with waste, the Ba Dinh Women’s Union has revitalized this riverside area into a shining example of environmental regeneration and a picturesque spot for photography and leisure.

The sandy riverbank of the Red River, under the stewardship of the Phúc Xá Ward Women’s Union, was painstakingly transformed into fertile land. This initiative aims to not only restore the environment but also provide the capital city of Hanoi with a new stunning backdrop that attracts photographers and nature lovers alike.

Following severe flooding, notably after Typhoon Yagi in September, which submerged the entire area, the Ba Dinh Women’s Union spearheaded efforts to beautify the embankment and create an inspiring environmental story. They envisioned the embankment as a vibrant, eco-friendly zone that also appeals to those seeking the perfect “check-in” spot in the heart of Hanoi.

Over the past two months, thousands of golden butterfly chrysanthemum plants have been carefully cultivated, thriving under the autumn sun. These flowers have not only changed the landscape dramatically but have also become a magnet for photography enthusiasts eager to capture their beauty.

The garden’s radiant display beneath Long Bien Bridge has created a picturesque setting that attracts countless visitors, particularly women eager to pose amid the blossoms.

Diệu Linh and her boyfriend Đình Hòa were among the early risers who prepared their cameras and attire as they arrived at Long Bien Bridge to seize the beautiful morning glow. “Having heard from friends about the recent floral additions, I couldn’t resist bringing my girlfriend here to capture these stunning moments with the historic Long Bien Bridge as our backdrop,” Đình Hòa remarked.

The allure of the setting has prompted many to rise before dawn, venturing to capture the serenity and beauty as the sun casts its first rays over the century-old bridge.

Nguyệt Lệ, typically not an early riser, was so enthralled by the vibrant images shared by friends that she decided to set her alarm for 5 a.m., heading out with her companion to experience the serene beauty firsthand. “I was truly amazed and overwhelmed by the setting here. Despite arriving early, there were already many enthusiasts present to photograph the scenery, proving the widespread appreciation for beauty,” she shared.

Members of the Phúc Xá Ward Women’s Union meticulously care for these gardens daily, ensuring the flowers remain healthy and vibrant.

Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Lan, head of the women’s association, shared that this is the third time they’ve planted flowers at the embankment. Previous efforts were thwarted by floods and harsh weather, but their dedication has persisted. “Transforming this land, once laden with waste, into a lush and beautiful expanse is the result of tireless dedication. We began planting this batch in September, and now they’re in full bloom,” Lan revealed.

New flowers are continually being planted in recently cleared areas, showcasing the commitment to maintain and enhance this newly found garden paradise.

According to Mrs. Lan, the Women’s Union plans to expand the garden further in the coming months, ensuring this space becomes even more enchanting and attractive, drawing more visitors and photographers.
